In business today time is a critical factor. There never seems to be enough of it to accomplish what we want. Deadlines get tighter. There is more to do on a daily basis in less time. We measure time in smaller and smaller degrees. Yet it isn’t the quantity of time that is often the problem or challenge. It is our relationship to time and how we use time that creates the problems and the struggle. In most organisations we use time in an ineffective way. Procrastination, distraction, lack of focus, and lack of proactivity all contribute to a situation where we become victims of time rather than being masters of time. A classic example is the meeting. A great deal of time is spent in meetings. Yet so many of them are ineffective in terms of their use of time. A lot of time is wasted on side tracking, other topics, irrelevancies, etc… There is another way.
